Happy Christmas
The king of Christian alternative music, Brandon Ebel has finally put out the alternative Christmas record. As the liner notes say this is something he's always wanted to do. And now he's done it with style.
The album features 18 Christmas favourites, ranging from the classics like 'Joy to the World' and 'Away in a Manger' to newer favourites like "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland," and even includes six original tunes. If you're getting tired of the traditional versions of all your best loved Christmas songs, this CD is for you. Styles range from ska to techno and has something for just about everyone.
Happy Christmas Vol. 2
If you're looking for an alternative, rock and roll Christmas, you've come to the right place. Once again, BEC has put out the alternative Christmas compilation of the season.
This time they've snagged Sixpence None the Richer, MxPx, All Star United, Starflyer 59 and more (complete listing below). None of the songs are done in a traditional style, with a little bit of everything including ska, punk, techno, rhythm & blues and rock & roll. From Hangnail's punk version of "O Little Town of Bethlehem," to Starflyer 59's soft, wispy "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" to Flight 180's (formerly 180) ska/swing/punk "O Come All Ye Faithful," the album is anything but what you'd expect.
Happy Christmas Vol. 3
This brand new holiday compilation features fresh takes on classics and striking original material, festive rockers and midnight carols.
Highlights include Starflyer 59's twilight cover of "I'll Be Home For Christmas," Hangnail's full-on power rock version of the glorious "Do You Hear What I Hear" while Kendall Payne delivers a hauntingly beautiful "O Come, O Come Emmanuel." Other great songs by The OC Supertones, Poor Old Lu, Joy Electric, Relient K, Bleach, Earthsuit, Cadet, Denison Witmer, Ace Troubleshooter, Aaron Sprinkle, Skyline Drive, and Matt Thiessen.
