The story of Daniel and the lions’ den is a classic Bible story for all ages. It’s a story about courage, integrity, and trust in the Lord.

God gives Daniel great wisdom and the special ability to interpret dreams. As a trained Chaldean-astrologer, sorcerer, enchanter, and magician, Daniel and his three friends (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were to serve as advisors to the Babylonian court.

When the king has a frightening dream, Daniel uses his gift to interpret the dream, which leads to his role as the king’s closest advisor. The king then has a golden statue built and demands that everyone in the kingdom worship the idol. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse, King Nebuchadnezzar has them thrown into a fiery furnace. However, an angel of the Lord appears and protects them while in the furnace.

When King Darius comes into power, Daniel becomes his first president. The king is tricked into issuing an edict that commands everyone worship his statue. Because of whom he serves, Daniel refuses to obey and is thrown into the lions’ den. God protects Daniel while in the lions’ den, and Darius recognizes that Daniel's God is the one, true God.
