Leeland has released the official statement about the departure of long-time bassist Jake Holtz:
After playing music with us for nearly nine years (starting with our rehearsals in the funeral home and the youth group meetings at the old Hancock fabric building in Baytown) Jake is moving on to new things.
Some of you may already know, but Jake, on Feb 22, is flying to Georgia to start basic training in the US Army. He has always been passionate about the armed forces, and simply wants to serve his country. And we wouldn't expect any less, but Jake is ambitious and plans to pursue the Rangers program! We know he has what it takes, and if he can room with Mike for this many years, than nothing is impossible. haha (sorry mike!)
We've been honored to serve God along side our cousin, and to be able to minister with family is a gift to be treasured. When you've grown up together playing football in the back yard, then traveling the world together and leading worship is just an extension of those earlier times. We've gone millions of miles in planes, trains, buses, boats, vans & rickshaws laughing all the way, and consumed with one purpose, to see lives changed for Jesus.
We love you Jake, and we know that you have a passion for people. We commit to pray for you and can't wait to see the things God is going to do with your life in this new season.
From fans around the world, the band, and everyone involved in our ministry, we love you and will miss you more than you know!
Your best friends,
Leeland, Jack, & Mike
During his time in the band, Holtz (together with the rest of the band), have been gracious with YMZ's media requests. We shall certainly miss seeing him at different events and wish him success in his new calling.
